I want to work in a team environment where my skills can best be used to build something meaningful.
A project is only as good as its results and I have been able to consistently provide value to project stakeholders.
I have always strived for clean and concise code. Software needs to be designed to work, but also to be maintained.
Either working solo or with a team, my creativity in coming up with innovative solutions to problems has proved invaluable.
Leadership skills can be valuable, even when not formally leading a team. I have had many opportunities to provide leadership in many different capacities.
I am committed to doing my best work and giving my best effort, day in and day out. When you love what you do, it's easy.
This industry requires a commitment to continuously learning and "sharpening the saw". It's one of the things I enjoy most about it.
I am lead developer on the FGL Flagship Store projects. I built the Community Board application, the Cash Wall application and management backends for both. I wrote the system for ingesting and serving live sports scores to the stores, in various apps, and to be displayed on "power rings" in store. I also developed several Android tablet apps used in the stores. I worked with various vendors and CTi (Canadian Tire Innovations) out of Waterloo, ON to oversee the development and delivery of various applications.

I created FGL's product information system for holding product descriptions, features/benefits, brand, and sport/activity categorization. Previous to this, FGL was using Excel spreadsheets to manage this information, leading to a lot of out-dated data and conflicting versions of product data. My cloud application provides the enterprise with one source of truth, and allows for data entry teams to work in Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto. It integrates into a number of other systems, as well as our apps in store, and on our e-commerce site (http://sportchek.ca).
I also developed the succession planning tool (like an internal LinkedIn) used by FGL operations, which serves 14,000+ users. I developed the 'ProLab', a streaming video site and Android tablet app used to serve video produced in-house by our training department.
As the Lead Developer, I provide mentorship to other less experienced developers on our team.
Worked on a variety of projects with different agencies, including Critical Mass, Suitcase Interactive, RFX, SDMG, Woodruff Sweitzer and Moca Creative. Continued work with a wide range of CMS solutions, e-commerce platforms and custom PHP applications. Produced work for clients such as Garmin, Best Buy, Nissan, Agri-Trend, Winalta Homes, The Calgary Zoo, SMART Technologies and others. While freelancing, I have had the opportunity to build teams of project managers, developers and designers to get a job done for my clients.
Worked as the lead developer at RFX, using a wide range of content management systems. Built and deployed e-commerce sites. Maintained all production, testing and development environments and servers. Built and managed teams of freelancers and contractors as needed. Worked on projects for a wide variety of clients, mainly in the oil & gas and agricultural industries.
At Suitcase Interactive I had the opportunity to create very unique applications for use in websites. It has been a challenge and helped to enhance my programming skills. I worked as part of a team of account managers, designers, and developers. Worked on projects for The United Way Calgary and Pattison Outdoor, among others.
Developed a number of sites, providing information architecture as well as front-end and back-end code. Considerable time was spent developing training courses for clients. Worked as part of a very large collaborative team on projects for Jugo Juice, Silvertip Resort and Travel Alberta, among others.
At Critical Mass, I learned how to maintain client deadlines and prioritize tasks. We faced many deadlines that usually overlapped many projects. I was lead web developer on the “Build Your Own” application of the Mercedes-Benz website. I also assumed the role of lead on a number of smaller projects including a site for a new model (SLK350) that launched in the summer.
Lead a team of developers who designed and built a content management system from the ground up for the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Calgary. The CMS was designed to allow professors and researchers to dynamically create websites based on course content and to share research across the web. Service calls that required special knowledge of application software and programming were escalated to me, requiring a broad knowledge base and versatility. I also assisted with a wide variety of IT projects for the University, including system administration for a large number of servers.
